Abandoned pieces of jewelry discovered at NAIA Terminal 2
NAIA Terminal 2, Pasay City – Abandoned pieces of jewelry were discovered following a report from a cabin crew of a Philippine Airlines flight from Hongkong of two passengers observed to be concealing something inside the plane’s comfort room.
After the aircraft arrived at around 2:30 p.m. on November 17, 2022, the PAL Manager on duty immediately informed the PAL station control room and AVSEU station for inspection. As a precautionary measure, EOD/K9 was summoned to conduct sweeping and ION scanning on the discovered items for possible lead content which yielded a negative result.
The inspection conducted by the Custom examiner of the Bureau of Customs revealed that the said items have a total weight of 24.2 kg. The items placed in 3 bags and 4 packs are now in the custody of the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
